Critical illness health insurance

If you were diagnosed with a serious illness, like the rest of us, you’d want to focus on your recovery. But what about money? Your job? Your means of earning an income?

Treating an illness is often associated with unexpected costs – not just medicine the government doesn’t cover or getting treatment somewhere else. There are many costs associated with getting sick, can your spouse afford to take time off work to be with you? What if you need to renovate your home to accommodate a wheelchair or a chairlift? It can get expensive.
The average age of claim on Critical Illness Insurance is 43

Medical expenses incurred on account of a critical illness can be staggering. Up to 70% of cancer treatment drugs are deemed experimental, and thus are not covered by Medicare or Health plans. You can use the insurance money to bypass hospital line-ups and receive immediate treatment.

Cancer is the leading cause of premature death in Canada. Yet, thanks in large part to cancer research, 59% of people diagnosed with cancer today will survive the disease, compared with 20% in the 1940's, according the the Canadian Cancer Society. With the exception of cancer in woman, death rates for most major cancers have declined during the past decade in Canada. Overall cancer mortality rates are higher in Atlantic Canada, and the lowest in British Columbia.

The biggest killer is lung cancer, which accounts for 25% of all cancer deaths; indeed tobacco is directly responsible for 30% of all cancer deaths.

Dealing with a deadly disease can be stressful enough without having to worry about your finances. If you are unable to earn an income due to becoming critically ill, can be financially devastating. We are here to ensure you have enough income to help you through times of need.
